Oreo
The world's favorite cookie since 1912
Oreo is an American sandwich cookie brand owned by Mondelez International, first introduced in 1912. Consisting of two chocolate wafers with a sweet cream filling, Oreo has become the best-selling cookie brand in the world. The brand offers numerous variations including Double Stuf, Thins, Golden Oreo, and limited-edition seasonal flavors. Oreo is sold in over 100 countries and has adapted its flavors and marketing to local tastes in different markets.
Oreo was first produced in 1912 by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) at its factory in New York City. The original design featured a simple wreath pattern on the chocolate wafers. The brand's 'twist, lick, dunk' ritual became a cultural phenomenon. Over more than a century of production, Oreo has maintained its core recipe while continuously innovating with new flavors and formats. The brand was acquired by Kraft Foods and subsequently became part of Mondelez International when Kraft split in 2012.
