Acindar

Acindar is Argentina's leading manufacturer of steel wire products, nails, welded mesh, and reinforcing bars for the construction and hardware industries. Founded in 1942 in Villa Constitucion, Santa Fe province, the company grew to become one of the largest steelmakers in Latin America. Now part of the ArcelorMittal group, Acindar maintains its Argentine identity and dominates the domestic market for construction steel products. Their products are standard stock in every ferreteria and construction supply store across the country.

Acindar was established in 1942 by Arturo Acevedo in Villa Constitucion, Santa Fe, as Acindar Industria Argentina de Aceros S.A. The company built Argentina's first integrated steel mill and pioneered domestic steel production at a time when the country relied heavily on imports. Over the decades, Acindar expanded its product line to include everything from simple wire nails to complex reinforcing bar systems, welded mesh panels, and specialty steel wire for industrial applications. The company operates major production facilities in Villa Constitucion and Rosario, employing thousands of workers. In 2006, ArcelorMittal acquired a controlling stake, integrating Acindar into the world's largest steel company while preserving its local brand identity. Today, Acindar products are synonymous with construction in Argentina. Their clavos (nails), alambre (wire), and hierro (reinforcing bars) are found on virtually every building site in the country, from small residential projects to major infrastructure works.
