Almacenes Exito S.A. is the largest retail company in Colombia and one of the leading retail platforms in South America. Founded in 1949 in Medellin by Gustavo Toro Quintero, the company operates over 600 stores across multiple formats: Exito hypermarkets, Carulla premium supermarkets, Surtimax discount stores, and Surtimayorista cash-and-carry wholesale outlets. The group also develops and manages Viva shopping centers, Colombia's largest commercial real estate operation with 15 centers and nearly 500,000 square meters of leasable space. With approximately 46,000 employees across Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina, Grupo Exito reported consolidated revenues exceeding COP 21 trillion in 2024. The company manages over 30 private label brands spanning food, personal care, home goods, and textiles, with more than 27,000 product references. Listed on the Bolsa de Valores de Colombia, Grupo Exito is recognized as one of the 10 most sustainable food retailers globally.
