About
Matesur is an Argentine brand specializing in handcrafted artisanal mate gourds made from calabash and algarrobo wood, stainless steel and alpaca bombillas (mate straws), thermos flasks, and mate accessories. Founded in 2019 by Gian Franco Gargini in Buenos Aires' Caballito neighborhood, the company started on Instagram selling Uruguayan-style mate gourds and grew into a full e-commerce and physical retail operation. Each mate is hand-finished with unique engravings and metalwork details, making every piece unrepeatable. The brand also offers custom engraving services and complete mate gift sets for corporate clients.

Solid mid-range yerba for the mate community
We supply Matesur to specialty mate shops in Sao Paulo and Curitiba where the Argentine and Uruguayan customer base wants something beyond the supermarket brands. The Sabor Mundial line lands well between the everyday yerbas and the premium specialty options. Steady reorder rate.
Matesur is built for export and it shows
We ship Matesur to specialty tea distributors in California, New York and Texas. The packaging is designed for international markets with multilingual labeling on request. The yerba itself has a milder smoke profile than some Argentine brands which suits the US palate. Matesur's export team responds within hours and handles documentation cleanly.
Quality is great, communication slower than expected
We bought 8 cases for the breakroom of our Lima office and a regional client gift program. The yerba is excellent quality, comparable to higher-priced brands. However the seller took 4 days to confirm our initial PO and another 2 days to send the proforma invoice. Shipment itself was on time once the paperwork was sorted.
