Frigorifico Las Piedras S.A. is the only family owned Uruguayan meatpacker that runs the entire production chain on its own fields and facilities at Ruta 36 Km 26.100 in El Colorado, Canelones. Founded in 1978 by the Gonzalez family, the 24,000 square meter plant on a 110 hectare property processes up to 4,000 quarters of beef and 2,200 lamb carcasses per day for the European Union, United States, China, Israel, Brazil, and more than fifteen additional markets. It became the first slaughterhouse in Uruguay to receive ESG sustainable certification and obtained FSIS approval for the United States in May 2024.
