About
Cooperativa Agraria Pueblo Apicola Ltda. is a Uruguayan first-level agricultural cooperative of small beekeepers founded in 1999 and based in Guichon, Paysandu department, in northern Uruguay. The cooperative exports organic Fairtrade certified honey to Europe, North America, Japan and the Gulf region, with over five hundred apiaries and thirty thousand hives spread across rural Uruguay. Pueblo Apicola has held European Union organic certification and United States NOP certification since 2005 and Fairtrade International certification since 2009. The cooperative is a member of CLAC Red Miel Latinoamerica and of Fairtrade International, and it serves as an anchor supplier of Uruguayan multifloral wildflower, eucalyptus, citrus blossom and clover honey in 300 kilogram bulk drums and retail glass jars to European honey packers, Canadian cooperative brands and Middle Eastern natural food distributors.
