About
Novabarca S.A. is one of Uruguay largest frozen-fish producers, operating an integrated fleet-to-plant business from its EU-approved facility in Canelones. Founded in 1993, the company runs its own fleet of twelve steel trawlers (eight coastal and four high-seas vessels) in the cold, unpolluted Southwest Atlantic, landing hake, croaker, whiting, squid and shrimp at the Port of Montevideo. The processing plant handles up to 120 tonnes per day and delivers around 14,000 tonnes of frozen product annually under HACCP, EU and FDA/USDC standards. Novabarca exports IQF, interleaved and block-frozen fish to the Republic of Congo, China, Cameroon, Brazil, Nigeria and Western European wholesalers, and supplies the Uruguayan HORECA market through local distributors.
