Bombril S.A. is a Brazilian manufacturer of household cleaning and hygiene products, founded in 1948 by Roberto Sampaio Ferreira in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo. The company is best known for its iconic steel wool sponge marketed under the "1001 utilidades" slogan, which became a cultural reference in Brazil. Today Bombril operates three industrial complexes across São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Pernambuco states, with more than 2,300 employees producing approximately 250,000 tonnes of cleaning products per year. The product portfolio spans more than 15 brands and over 300 items including steel wool, synthetic sponges, detergents, disinfectants, cleaners, fabric softeners, laundry liquids, saponaceous products, air fresheners and insecticides. Key brands include Bombril, Limpol, Mon Bijou, Pinho Bril, Kalipto and Sapolio. Bombril products are present in 99 percent of Brazilian households and the company exports to Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Peru.
