Consistent quality across multiple shipments
We have ordered over 50 tonnes of Gerdau CA-50 in various diameters for our projects in the Andean region. The mechanical properties consistently meet or exceed the 500 MPa specification. Every heat comes with proper mill test certificates. The ribbing pattern is uniform and provides reliable bond strength in our structural pours. Minor delays on two out of seven shipments due to port congestion at Santos, but the product quality has never been an issue.
Good product but pricing is above regional average
Purchased 200 bars for a warehouse expansion project. Quality meets CA-50 specification without issues. Mill certs were provided promptly. The price per bar is about 10% higher than competitors like ArcelorMittal Acindar for equivalent grade. However, availability was better since Gerdau had stock ready to ship within two weeks while others quoted four to six weeks.
Quality acceptable, logistics need improvement
Ordered 500 bars for a client project. The rebar quality is fine and the mechanical test results match specifications. Two problems: first, the packing list weight did not match the actual weight on three bundles, causing discrepancies during customs clearance. Second, the shipping container was loaded without adequate dunnage, and several bars had bent ends upon arrival. Had to straighten about 15 bars before use. Communication was slow when we reported these issues.
